On the occasion of painter Monika Baer being awarded the Hannah-Höch Prize comes the publication of the first German edition of the essay "Modernity and the Spaces of Feminity" (1988) by Griselda Pollock, a pioneer of feminist art history and theory. Through a critical engagement with the artistic praxis of women who were part of the Impressionist movement, Pollock's essay forms a brilliant analysis of class and gender relations at the end of the 19th century, which continues to resonate to this day.
