»Pardon and Law« Due to the legal problems which the right to grant pardon involves, the German legislator has passed various legal provisions which serve as an alternative to this right (e.g., the release pursuant to Sec. 57a of the German Criminal Code). The author addresses the legal relationship between these provisions and the right to grant pardon and thereby examines to which extent the right to grant pardon still applies under German law.
