»The Legitimacy of NATO Military Operations since the End of Soviet Union with Regard to the North Atlantic Treaty and International Law« The NATO military interventions in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Libya mark the development of NATO from a defensive military alliance to a transatlantic interventional force. They also show how the handling of an international treaty moves away from its original contract text, without this repurposing being reflected in a formal change of treaty yet. This work analyses if and how military measures of a defensive alliance such as NATO are legitimate in the light of international law.
