»Mercy Killing on the Battlefield. On Active Euthanasia in Extreme Combat Situations.« With the »mercy killing« of severely wounded soldiers in armed conflicts, this dissertation covers an area of active euthanasia that has received almost no attention to date. Based on a comprehensive presentation of historical cases, and taking into account the applicable rules of international humanitarian law, this study examines such »mercy killing« cases under the relevant provisions of the German Criminal Code (StGB) and the German Code of Crimes against International Law (VStGB).
