Based on the history of grand coalitions at the german federal and state level, the thesis outlines the parliamentary challenges in view of the extraordinary situation in parliament, particularly in the area of conflict between mandate equality and the principle of opposition. Based on this, decisions of the German Bundestag in the 18th electoral term are scrutinized.
