Auf der bustrophedon geschriebenen Inschrift von Vaxos 5125 (blass. P. 368) A 1 liest man i'vowu töv es mit dem be kannten [v für EUR12. Der Eingang der Inschrift ist dunkel, aber daß l'vowu nichts andres als "gegenüber bedeuten kann, sich also mit dem hellenistischen ä'vavn deckt, ist klar. Ebenso der Ur Sprung des Wortes: o'wu' c. Gen. In seiner ursprünglichen Beden tung "gegenüber ist kretisch belegt z. B. In gort. O'wzl xööyaw, o'wtl yawügaw "in Gegenwart von Kosmoi, Zeugen, die Er weiterung mit EUR11 dieselbe Wie in homerisch 5110512105, e'vavtlfog, Ävow u'ßtog neben 62m0: u. S. W. (vgl. Blass Gramm. D. Ntl. Griechisch2 Dieser kretische Beleg erlaubt vielleicht ein allerdings in hellenistische Zeit fallendes delphisches Beispiel noch dem dortigen Dialekt als ursprüngliches Gut zuzuweisen: Collitz 2072, 26 ä'vavu täw (198 a.
