The 51st volume of the interdisciplinary journal contains nine papers dealing with dugout canoes in the Museum of Pre- and Protohistory, images of goats in petroglyphs from southern Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, the "Paradise Fortress" in Western Azerbaijan, Early Iron Age kurgans and their periphery in necropoleis of the Lower Trans-Volga Steppe, Rome's Germanic adversaries of A.D. 235, the Eastern Prussian cemetery at Mietkie / Mingfen, the ritual statue from Altfriesack in Brandenburg, Schliemann's report on his stay in the Netherlands as well as with Gustaf Kossinna in the East by the example of KAFU's research in Lublin. This is followed by the annual reports 2018 on the work of the Museum of Pre- and Protohistory in Berlin, on figures, dates, and facts of the year in the museum, on the work of the German Association of Archaeology [DVA], and the Commission for the Investigation of Collections of Archaeological Finds and Documents in North-Eastern Central Europe [KAFU], and by a report on the museum's research project on 'Continuity of research and research on continuity - basic investigations on settlement archaeology in the Iron Age Baltic'.
