Iohannes de Garlandia: Carmen de Misteriis Ecclesie
While teaching at the university of Paris, John of Garland, in addition to more ambitious works, wrote several didactic texts. His "Misteria Ecclesie" treat with didactic brevity: the symbolism of the church-buildings, the ecclesiastical order of the clergy, vestments, liturgy, the canonical year, the Eucharist. His source is a treatise of Ps.- Hugo of St. Victor.
