»Unjustified Ethics« From scattered discourses emerged the mirage of a global consensus on the ethical requirements of clinical trials involving human subjects formed by certain ethical guidelines. This thesis scrutinises legal-theoretically the claim for authority of these ethical guidelines finding their legitimacy deficient. It subsequently analyses doctrinally to what extent human experimentation is addressed by international public law. Ethical guidelines or an »escape to ethics« may not undermine human rights.
