Against the background of environmental goals anchored in EU and international law, the thesis critically examines the fertiliser-specific agri-environmental law for its steering effect and its conformity with EU law. It points out numerous deficiencies in the legal framework of fertilisation, which even recent amendment efforts cannot overcome.
